STEP BY STEP

Put it together

  1. Prepare tins

Attach each wick tab at the center with a wick sticker.

  2. Melt

Heat wax in the pitcher set in a pot one-third full of water over medium-low electric heat. Monitor water level and wax temperature.

  3. Add fragrance

At 185°F, remove from heat and stir in fragrance. Cool to 135°F.

  4. Pour

Cool to 135°F. Pour no more than 5 ounces (142 g) of the blend into each tin, keeping at least 1/4 inch headspace. Let surplus wax cool in the pitcher for a future batch. Hold wicks straight with bars; cool overnight.

  5. Finish

Trim wicks to 1/4 inch and add warning labels. Allow several days to cure.

  6. Test

Follow the linked full-life burn-test procedure before gifting. Record flame, soot and container behavior through repeated supervised burns.

Good to know

  • Do not substitute drinking glasses, change wick size, or add dried flowers, herbs or glitter.
  • Burn on a heat-resistant surface away from drafts, children and pets. Never leave a flame unattended.
  • If using a different kit or wax, follow its own matched instructions and temperatures.
  • The tin’s 8-ounce name describes container size, not its wax fill weight. This batch leaves a little extra blend.
