Choose Nu-Salt above for the verified OU option.
One 300 g tub
Label: 420 mg magnesium per 2 g powder, as dimagnesium malate. A large tub, chosen because the smaller option cost almost as much. Check the label before mixing.

Use grams, not teaspoons. Put a dry bowl on a suitable precision scale and tare it before each ingredient. Check the product labels against this recipe.
Combine thoroughly, breaking up clumps. Store in a clean, dry, airtight container. Label the ingredients, date, and serving weight. Keep the scoop dry and remix before portioning; powders can separate.
Weigh 3.17 g of mixed mineral powder into 16–32 fl oz water. Stir or shake well. The weight assumes a uniform mix; a scoop is not a reliable measure.
YOUR FLAVOR / UNFLAVORED
Just the mineral mix and water. Expect a salty taste.
Weigh the mineral portion first, then add dry flavoring separately. These are starting amounts to adjust to taste, not replicas of LMNT’s commercial flavors. Keep the bulk mineral mix unflavored.
SKIP THE MEASURING
30 single-serving packets
The original brand, already measured. Add one packet to water following the label. This option is unflavored, independent of your DIY flavor choice.
It follows the mineral targets in LMNT’s published DIY recipe, with powder weights adjusted to the recommended product labels. LMNT lists 2.5 g salt, 0.385 g potassium chloride, and 0.390 g magnesium malate or 0.265 g dimagnesium malate per serving. Our Nutricost label gives a different magnesium concentration, so we use approximately 0.286 g.
This is a homemade approximation, not a recreation of LMNT’s commercial flavors. Sodium from 2.5 g salt is approximately 1,000 mg; label rounding and ingredient purity affect the actual amounts.
Only after recalculating from its elemental mineral content. “500 mg magnesium malate” does not mean 500 mg magnesium. Do not substitute magnesium citrate, oxide, capsules, or mixed salt substitutes using these weights.
For the recommended products, potassium powder = 200 × 0.2 ÷ 105 g per serving; magnesium powder = 60 × 2 ÷ 420 g. Check the BulkSupplements Potassium Chloride Powder label and Nutricost product details, plus the label on the package you receive.
Very little potassium or magnesium powder goes into a drink. Buying smaller packages can cost almost as much. Keep unused ingredients in their original packaging and follow their storage and expiry instructions.
No complete kosher recipe has been verified. Nu-Salt has verified OU pareve evidence; the other ingredients remain unverified or have no suitable certified option found. Check the required symbol on the package you receive. Certification of one ingredient does not certify the finished mix.
We only show verified food certifications from OU, Kof-K, cRc, or Star-K. Empty bottles, pouches, jars, and scales are listed as equipment, without a kosher certification claim.
This is a high-sodium recipe, not medical advice or a treatment for dehydration. Check with a clinician before using electrolyte supplements if you have kidney or heart disease, a sodium restriction, or take medicines that affect potassium.
